At the moment, a number of Corrie fans are fed up with Stu Carpenter, who first appeared on the Cobbles as a homeless man in October 2021.

Since then, he’s got his life back on track with the help of Yasmeen, but in recent weeks, he’s been troubled by former son-in-law Dom Everett’s return and his attempts to reconnect with Stu’s granddaughter Eliza.

But it turned out his motives weren’t genuine, and what he really wanted was £10,000 to clear his debts.

However, some viewers have shared their lack of interest in the storyline, and Stu’s character too.

One wrote on social media: “Seriously time for Stu to go. And the producer, and half the cast. When will ITV wake up and do something about this show? God!!!!”

A fellow viewer replied: “I have to admit — and I’m usually pretty positive about a lot of stuff — but I am also tired of the Stu story.”

Alongside a picture of Stu looking blank they wrote: “This is how much interest I have in the Stu and Eliza storyline. #Corrie”.

Another Corrie fan wrote: “Yasmeen, Stu and Eliza bore me rigid.”

Meanwhile, fans have also ripped into the show for neglecting its older characters.

Viewers of the show are ‘tired’ of legendary characters being ‘limited’ and have demanded Corrie bosses produce ‘serious storylines’ for them.

One raged online: “Corrie is slowly becoming ITV’s version of Hollyoaks. Someone needs to put an end to it.”

Another tweeted: “Sick of them throwing in so many new characters constantly and bringing in plot device characters like please can we focus on the characters we actually care about and are the show’s bread n butter !!!”

A third protested: “I’m TIRED of Gail and Sally, especially being limited to comedy now and only making a handful of appearances every few months. I really want to see them both get serious storylines again because they can be great when it’s hard-hitting stuff.”

Coronation Street airs on ITV1 and is available on ITVX.
